Save Windows Spotlight Lockscreen Wallpapers

Windows 10 brings a unique feature to the table with Windows Spotlight. The option lets you set your lockscreen on your PC or tablet to auto-rotate through a preselected group of photos picked by Microsoft. At the top of the right-hand corner, you can give a thumbs up or down if you liked it like Pandora. If you gave it thumbs down, off it goes. A thumbs up, however, will produce similar images on the next run.
Those images produced by Spotlight tend to be awe-inspiring, which means you may want to save them on occasion for later use including on your phone (where, unfortunately, Spotlight has yet to arrive). Today, we'll show you how to do just that!

How To Save Spotlight Images

As you can probably figure, Spotlight images are cached on your local PC and hidden in a particular folder. They're given awful names like '8d71495e43fa1c6887a8840aa45…' but that is a different battle. Here is how to find them, copy them and save them for later use.
1. Hold down your Windows key plus R [Win + R] to launch the Run dialog prompt

2. Enter in the following command and then hit OK. Your best bet is to copy and paste:
%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets

3.  A folder will be opened in File Explorer with non-specific file names.

4. Copy and paste the files into a new folder preferably something under This PC > Pictures > Spotlight as a permanent location (or under OneDrive so you can have them everywhere).
Note: You will see a warning prompt when you go to copy the files, simply hit OK to the warning.

5. You need to rename all the files with the JPG extension. You could do this one by one or in a batch command – here is how to do the latter:

Hit Shift + Right-click with your mouse in the directory where you copied the images. Choose Open command window here and type in (or copy and paste)
Ren *.* *.jpg

This action will rename all the files with a JPG extension.
Note: Some of the files are cached junk and won't be actual images from Spotlight.
6. Filter and clean up
Some of the images won't be images at all so delete all the files you do not want (use Ctrl + Left-click on the mouse to multi-select files).

Bonus: Some of the images will also be vertical. For the vertical images, you may want to copy and paste them into a different folder as you can use them for your smartphone's Start or Lock screen.

Add Background Image To Folder In Window Explorer

When you open drive or folder, You see white background. Even though you change your theme, your window explorer background remains the same, i.e. white background which is very common. Now you can add or change background of any folders or Drives.
This trick will let you add image as background to the folders or drive’s background which will replace your old white background.
Suppose we have two drive one for movies and other for songs. I can personalize my two drives by setting some background image according to the drive data.
So when you open movie drive, You will see movie’s background images and when you open songs drive, You will see album images as background image. As shown in the below image, it shows that I have changed the background of My Document to some wallpaper.

In the above image, I have changed My Document Background Showing some Image, which is looking professional and look.
Follow below Steps to Set or Add Image To Background of Window Explorer
Step 1: Go to Start –> All Program –> Accessories –> Open Notepad.
Step 2: Paste the Below Code in notepad.
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
IconArea_Image=images\1.JPG
IconArea_Text=0*000080FFf

Note: Copy the code as Shown Above. The three line of code should be on separate line as shown above.

Step 3: Now, Save it as "Desktop.ini" without quotes. Save this file where you need the image background. Above Example shows that I have saved in My document.
Step 4: Now, you need an image for background. Create a folder named Images and Copy images in that folder. Now give the directory of the image location in the second line of coding. Suppose your image name is "1.jpg" which is inside the images folder, Then the directory for this will be Images\1.jpg. I have named my images with series of a number, which make easier to change background images later in the code.
Now, we have two files. First file is the code saved as Desktop.ini and other one is a Folder named Images, Contains the images used for background.

Once you make the required changes in the code, save the file and refresh the folder, you will see the wallpaper as background for the folder. In case, you don’t see wallpaper set as background then make sure you specified the Correct Directories in Second Line of the code. I.e., IconArea_Image=IMAGES\2.Jpg .
Third line of code specifies icon text color. If the background is black, Then change the text color to white.
You can use this trick to any folder or drive, Even to Portable drives, Flash drives, Pen drives. Just Copy the image folder and desktop.ini, where you need the image background.
Impress Your Friend using this trick, And also share with friends & Others!!!

View Recent Web Pages Offline

You might have suffered many times when you were without Internet, yet you still need to see a webpage that you were looking at just moments earlier. It’s frustrating, but if you’re running Chrome or Firefox then getting to a recently viewed webpage while offline is easy. Both browsers have the ability to display content in their respective caches—temporarily saved web page data—instead of the live version of the site. This can be imperfect since the page can change while you’re offline, rendering the saved version inaccurate, and the browser cache only contains a limited amount of your recent browsing history. It also doesn’t work on sites that provide live feeds of content, such as Facebook or Netflix. Nevertheless, if you need information from a news item or another site you were just viewing, try one of these solutions. Browsers like Google Chrome & Firefox save a cached copy of your recent browsed web pages, and so we will be using this feature to view the recently closed web pages without internet connection.
How to view recent web pages offline in Google Chrome?

Chrome’s method to display stale (not live) web pages is currently experimental. By default Chrome can show some webpages when offline, but with this setting enabled the feature is far more robust.
  1. To get ready for offline mode in Chrome type ” chrome://flags/#show-saved-copy " (Without Quotes) in the URL address bar. Then select Enable: Primary from the dropdown menu under the Enable Show Saved Copy Buttonheading.
  2. Once that’s done, restart your browser for the feature to take effect.
  3. To test viewing a cached page, take your PC offline and open a webpage from your recent browsing history. You should see Chrome’s typical offline error message—except now you’ll also see a Show saved copy button as pictured above. Click that button and you’ll see the version of the webpage as it was when you were last online.
In my tests, Chrome’s cache would only show you saved copies of sites going back about a half an hour. However, that was during my work day, when I view an enormous amount of web content. Your experience may vary.
How to view recent web pages offline in Mozilla Firefox?
There’s no special flag to set in Firefox in order to view content offline.
  1. To view pages from your cache click on the menu “hamburger” icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Then select Developer > Work Offline. Now Firefox will display the page you want as long as it’s in the browser’s cache.
That’s all there is to viewing cached webpages offline. It’s not a perfect solution, but still this may help us in most situations.

Casper - Download Snaps On Android

Some of the best images I've seen were shared via Snapchat, but once they're expired, they're gone forever, with no way to view them again unless I want to take a screenshot. But that will, of course, alert the sender.
Some of your friends might not mind if you take a screenshot of one of their snaps. Others, however, could be disturbed that their temporary, fleeting photo or video has become permanently saved on your phone.
Fortunately, there's a simple, non-root method on Android devices that will allow you to save both pictures and videos shared through Snapchat without notifying the sender. That way you can creep like a pro, and they can go on using Snapchat without worry.

Warning:

As with any third-party Snapchat client, there is a risk of being locked out of your account by Snapchat, or possibly even being banned, so make sure you're okay with the risks before continuing to use Casper. More information can be found on Snapchat's site.
Step 1: Install Casper
To begin, enable "Unknown sources" on your Android device, then installCasper from developer Liam Cottle (whom we've featured before).

Step 2: Sign into Your Account

In order to sign into Casper, you will need to use your Snapchat credentials as well as a Google account for authentication. Note that signing into a Snapchat client like Casper will automatically sign you out of the official Snapchat app on your device.
As stated by the developer, it's highly recommended to create a fake Google account to prevent Snapchat from blocking your personal account from the official Snapchat app on your device. For more information on how logging in works in Casper, see its help page. Also, you can check out the developer's Reddit comment for details on how it uses Google credentials to login.

Step 3: Save Other People's Snaps

Casper's interface is easy to get used to. The first page has direct snaps, the next has stories, after that it's your friends list, and then friend requests on the last page.

When you're saving a direct snap, whether it's a picture or video, just open it and tap the download icon located towards the top of the page.

To save an image or video from a story, start by tapping a particular story to expand it and display each individual picture and video. Then, just tap the one you want to open and save it by tapping the download icon.

All the saved content can be viewed from within your device's gallery app in the "Saved Snaps" album.

Use Casper as a Snapchat Client

If you like Casper enough, you can disable ads with an in-app purchase ($2.99) and replace the official Snapchat app with it. Casper offers all of the tools Snapchat does as well as some additional ones, like choosing between various emoji styles.

If you've been looking for a way to save some of your favorite snaps, then Casper is definitely worth the try.

Google Camera App Missing From PlayStore

Note: Before reading this, we advise not to get panic since the app is missing from Play Store only in some regions. When we were in Spain for MWC and now in India, we can’t find the app in Play Store. In case, it is missing in your country comment that down in the comments sections.
In April 2014, Google has officially brought the Google Camera app for non-Nexus devices which was limited to just Nexus device till that date. It has been one of the best camera apps that is available for free on PlayStore and now the internet giant is thinking to limit it back to just Nexus devices that are running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or later.
It has been my favorite camera app because of its simple UI that doesn’t confuse the user with a lot of options but indeed offers more productivity than most of the other popular apps. The Lens Blur options give Bokeh effect even with normal camera smartphones, and the PhotoSphere offers 360-degree photos. With the latest Nexus devices, the app can record slo-mo videos upto 240fps. The SmartBurst, which is limited to just Nexus 6P, can make the photos captured in Burst mode into a nice GIF.
The latest version 3.1.021 which was updated on November 17, 2015, is now available to install only on Nexus devices. The latest Google Camera app with the version 3.1.021 is unable to install on the non-Nexus devices and shows the error “.” Since the latest version is limited Nexus devices, the version 2.5.052 can be installed on most of the devices that include both Nexus and non-Nexus devices.

Interestingly the changelog of the latest version clearly mentioned to support only Nexus 5, 6, 9, 5X, and 6P but the Nexus 5 is unable to install it. The app with the version 2.5052 can be installed on selected non-Nexus through PlayStore. According to Reddit, most of the users cannot find the Google Camera app in the Play Store, while for few users the direct link to the app is showing an error saying “Sorry! This content is not available in your country yet.

[Fix] Pin to Start Option Missing in Windows 10

In Windows 10, when you right-click on a folder, .exe file or a shortcut to an .exe file, the option Pin to Start may be missing. Also in the Start menu when you right-click an item, Pin to Start menu or Unpin from Start options go missing. Here are two possible reasons why this happens, and followed by a fix.
The two Policy settings NoChangeStartMenu and LockedStartLayout if set (via Group Policy or Registry-based), would remove the Pin to Start right-click menu option. If your system is connected to a domain, your network administrator may have set these Policies and you may have to contact them to relax the settings. If that’s not the case, the registry based settings may have been enabled by 3rd party tool.

Registry Fix

To restore the Pin to Start option to the right-click menu, download w10_pin_to_start.rar, unzip and run the enclosed REG file.
Here is the contents of the REG file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

;Restore Pin to Start right-click menu option in Windows 10

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer]
"LockedStartLayout"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer]
"LockedStartLayout"=-

More Information

The REG file clears the two Policy settings and restores the Pin to Start context menu handler entry in the registry, discussed below.

NoChangeStartMenu Policy can exist in these registry locations:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
It corresponds to the following GPO:
Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Prevent users from customizing their Start Screen
LockedStartLayout can exist in these registry locations:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
It corresponds to the following GPO:
Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Start Layout

Pin to Start Context Menu Handler

Another possibility is that the reference to Pin to Start context menu hander itself missing, in the registry.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\PintoStartScreen
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\PintoStartScreen
The .REG file restores the handler if missing.
