Open Cached Page Of Any Website

A cached page is a snapshot or a version of a web page saved at a specific time and stored by a web server as a backup copy.

Checking a cached version of a page instead of the current live version is useful if the original page is unreachable due to an Internet congestion or if the website is down, overloaded or slow, or simply if the web page has been removed by the site owner.

Cached pages are usually saved and stored by large companies with powerful web servers. Since such servers are usually very fast, a cached page can often be accessed faster than the live page itself:
- Google usually keeps a recent copy of the page (1 to 15 days old).
- Coral also keeps a recent copy, although it's usually not as recent as Google.
- Through Archive.org, you can access several copies of a web page saved throughout the years.

Here is a screen-shot of the default Android keyboard:

Now, in order to have a keyboard containing a dedicated number row at the top, use the following steps:

1. Go to the “Settings” app and tap on the “Language & input” option present in the “Personal” section.

2. Here, under the “Keyboard & Input Methods” section, you’ll see that the “Google Keyboard” is the default keyboard. Just tap on the customization icon present next to the selected keyboard to open its settings.

3. Now, under the “Other Options” section, tap on the “Advanced settings” option.

4. Once inside the “Advanced settings” menu, tap on the “Custom input styles” option.

5. Here you will see a couple of input styles: “German” and “French.” Tap on the “Add Style” option present at the bottom of the screen to add a new style.

6. In the pop-up window, select “Language” as “English (US)” (or whatever language you are comfortable in) and “Layout” as “PC,” and then tap on the “Add” option.

7. A confirmation window will appear asking you to enable the input style you’ve just added. Just click the “Enable” option.

8. Now, in the next screen, under the “Active Input Methods” menu, you’ll see that the keyboard you just enabled is active. If not, make sure it is by ticking on the box against it. Once done, click the standard back option present at the bottom left.

9. This will take you back to the “Custom input styles” menu where you’ll see that the new keyboard you just added and enabled appears in the list.

10. That’s it. Now open any window containing a text box to check the changes.

As you can see in the image above, the new Android keyboard now contains a row of numbers on the top.

Set Any Video As Live Wallpaper In Android

The first step towards turning your video into a live wallpaper is to get the required app installed on your device. Launch the Google Play store app on your device and download the Video Live Wallpaper Pro Free app. It’s a free app.
When the app is installed, launch it from your app drawer.
On the first screen of the app, you should see a couple of options that you can use for your live wallpapers. In order to select a video to be set as a live wallpaper, tap on the first option that says “Gallery.” It will then let you choose your file manager that you will be using find your video. Tap on any that you wish to use.

Navigate to the folder where your video is saved and tap on it to select it.

Here is when the real magic happens. Tap on the option that says “Set Live Wallpaper,” and it will let you see the preview of your live wallpaper.

On this screen, you can see the video as a live wallpaper. If you think it’s good and you wish to go ahead, simply tap “Set wallpaper,” and it will be set as your current live wallpaper. It will appear on all of your home-screens just like any other wallpaper.

There are two other options in the app that let you tweak your wallpaper. Those are:

Play Audio

This option comes checked off by default. That means your live wallpaper will include the audio as well. Unchecking the option will disable the audio, and you shouldn’t hear any sounds on your home-screens. I prefer muting the audio as I don’t want to hear a sound when I unlock my screen.

Loop Video

This option also comes enabled by default. What it does is repeat the video once it finishes playing. In simple words, it keeps your live wallpaper moving forever.

Software Update Checker

Click on SUMo’s icon on the desktop to launch it.

First, click on the “Automatically detect installed software” button to let SUMo scan your computer for already installed applications. Once it has finished, click on the next “Check for updates for your installed software” button to let SUMo connect to the Internet and check for software updates of your previously scanned software list. Click the “Close” button to access SUMo’s main interface.

SUMO will list all installed applications in a simple, multiple columns list. There are 3 icons that show your software’s current status:
  1. Triangular exclamation mark – Extremely outdated software. These ones need to be updated as soon as possible.
  2. Yellow star – Updates available. Not as critical as above.
  3. Green tick mark – These software’s are updated. No problem here.

Hide Secret Data In Txt Files Using Cmd

Open command prompt and type the following syntax:

notepad AnyFileName.txt:SecretData.txt

Here “AnyFileName” is the actual filename of the text file while “SecretData.txt” is the hidden stream contained within AnyFileName.
A window will popup asking for your confirmatoin. Click Yes.

A notepad editor will appear. You can now type the sensitive data that you want to hide.

Go to File -> Save to save the file.
You can add more than one hidden stream in the same file. Simply type the same command (but with different stream name) to add the new stream.
Notice that the main file name is “AnyFileName.txt” and there are no clues from the exterior that it contains a hidden file within it.

How do I access the hidden data?

To read the hidden stream from command prompt type the syntax below:
more < FileName.txt:StreamName.txt
For instance in our example the command should be
more < AnyFileName.txt:SecretData.txt

How do I detect the hidden file if I've forgotten the file name?

Yes you can detect the hidden files using the application Stream.exe. This application will monitor all the files with the stream file name if they exist.
For instance the syntax of detecting the hidden stream is
streams.exe AnyFileName.txt

If you want to delete just the stream from the file then type this command:
streams.exe -d AnyFileName.txt

This command will delete all the streams from the file AnyFileName.txt.
The above process is very handy to store some private text data in your system. Unless the other users of your PC are tech savvy or hackers, the chances are they will never notice your little secrets.

Block An Application Access to Internet From The Context Menu

We have already shown you various ways of restricting internet access in your computer through the Windows Firewall but these methods usually involve a lot of tampering and most users cannot be bothered. If you have a few programs that you regularly have to block and unblock from accessing the Internet then a context menu entry just for that should work wonders. I am going to show you how you can add an entry to the normal right click menu or to the extended one (Shift + Right click) if you prefer your standard one to be uncluttered.
Note before we begin
Because of the fact that you will need to change quite a few things in the Registry if you do this manually, it is much better if you create a .reg file and let everything install itself. To create such a file, create a new Text Document, copy and paste the things I will list below and then save the file as .reg instead of .txt. If you cannot see the extension, open the file, click on Save, select All Files and change the extension over there.
Adding the entries into the default context menu

Create a text file as I told you above and paste in everything below. Run your newly created .reg file and restart your computer to force the changes.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Add To Firewall]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Add To Firewall\command]
@=”netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=\”%1\” dir=out action=block program=\”%1\””
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Delete From Firewall
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Delete From Firewall\command]
@=”netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name=\”%1\””
Adding the entries into the extended context menu
Copy and paste in the following into your text document, run the .reg file and restart your computer:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshellAdd To Firewall]
“Extended”=””
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshellAdd To Firewallcommand]
@=”netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=”%1″ dir=out action=block program=”%1″”
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshellDelete From Firewall]
“Extended”=””
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshellDelete From Firewallcommand]
@=”netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name=”%1″”
How To Use?
To illustrate, we are going to add the Internet Explorer to the Firewall and prevent it from accessing the Internet.
1. Use the Find utility in the Start menu, type “Internet Explorer”.

If you go to the Firewall settings, you will see that Internet Explorer has been added to the Outbound Rules.

Selecting the “Delete From Firewall” will remove the app from the list.
In case you don’t want this feature, download the file UninstallFirewall.reg
The text of this file is:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Add To Firewall]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Delete From Firewall]
First, unblock all the applications that you have previously blocked.
Secondly, double click the uninstall file. When prompted, press OK. The Firewall options will disappear from the context menu.

Note: Always remember to restore the User Account Control to the default settings.

Add Panorama View To Your Desktop

Desktop Panorama is an virtual desktop environment that uses the innovative concept of a linear virtual desktop. Unlike traditional virtual desktops like the ones seen in Linux desktops, the virtual desktop area is represented as an infinite stripe and windows can be freely moved around it. The advantages of this type of virtual desktop are that it gives you greater overview of open windows (the entire virtual desktop content is visible at a glance) and moving the windows around and onto the virtual desktop is also simplified and is done by dragging them with a mouse. Changing the view (the desktop) is done by selecting an area on the stripe using a mouse. Traditonal desktop switching is also supported by defining shortcuts.

Add A Colorful Tabbed Interface To Windows Explorer

When TabExplorer is started for the first time, it will give you an option to enable or disable tabbed interface. You can enable or disable this feature at any time and it does not require you to restart your computer. Just uncheck the option and it will be done immediately. TabExplorer also gives an option to auto-run at system startup so that you always get the tabs feature when you start Windows.

When you click on “Enable Tab Explorer”, another option will be shown right next to it. The option is “Rainbow tabs”. If you enable this option, you will get colored tabs.

After you have selected the options from the first options screen, the new Windows Explorer windows will be opened in new colorful tabs in the single Explorer window. The tabs are added on the top of Windows Explorer which will not clutter Windows Explorer window.
If you have a lot of tabs open, you may find that the title of the tab get hidden and becomes difficult for you to identity what is in which tab. TabExplorer solves this problem by providing a drop down list of open tabs. This will give you the titles of the open tabs, thus, making it easier to choose and open the desired tabs.

In my opinion, these menu options are very similar to the context menu option on Mozilla Firefox. The context menu of TabExplorer gives a lot of options. The options include opening of new tab, cloning of tab, close one tab or all the tabs. You can also selectively close the tabs like close tabs on the right or left hand side of the active tab or close all the tabs except the active tab. The best option, in my opinion, is that TabExplorer lets you reopen last closed tab. It also gives a list of recently closed tabs. You can select from the list of recently closed tabs and open the tab again.

The feature that I miss in TabExplorer is the scarce use of keyboard shortcuts. I wish, the publisher of this wonderful software would create more keyboard shortcut mappings for doing tasks with Windows Explorer.
If you ever want to reconfigure the options of TabExplorer we have discussed earlier, you can do so by right clicking on the cloud icon (TabExplorer icon) in the system tray. The software works fine on Windows 7 as well as Windows 8.
What are your thoughts about this nifty little add-on software? Will you be using it on your work computer for enhanced productivity? What do you currently prefer to use for tabifying Windows Explorer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Create Custom Live Tiles in Windows 8 & 8.1

1. Download OblyTile. You will not need to install OblyTile to use it.
2. Open OblyTile.

3. Click the “Wrench” in the top right corner.

This will open the settings. The settings for OblyTile are fairly straightforward. You can choose whether or not OblyTile opens automatically when you start Windows 8. This is not necessary to use the live tiles you have created with it. You can choose to show a live tile preview whether or not new tiles use random colors and can choose whether the tiles you create will be used for all users or specific ones.
4. From the main screen of OblyTile, you can begin creating a live tile by naming it.
5. You can choose what type of live tile it will be by clicking the “…” icon.

It can be a live tile that opens a file, folder or even a URL. For this example, we will create a live tile that opens a website.
Under Program Path, we will type in the URL of the web site we want the live tile to open.
If you are choosing to open a document or a program, you will navigate to that document or program path to create its live tile.
6. Pick the Tile Image. Click the “…” icon next to that.

7. Select an image to represent your live tile.

OblyTile can only make small live tiles, so the best image size to use will be 120 x 120. You can use a larger image, but it will not make for the best live tile on the Start screen. At the moment you can only create small live tiles with OblyTile.
8. Pick the tile background color and title text color. You can do this by selecting a color or choosing “More colors” and entering in a HEX color code.

9. Choose the settings for your live tile.

You can opt to run the live tile as an administrator. If you are opening a program, this can be helpful because it will give you full access to everything it has to offer. Other choices include only opening a single instance of the program and hiding the program and going back to the start after opening a live tile. Depending on the type of live tile you want to create, these features can come in handy.
10. Click “Create tile” when you are ready to create your custom live tile.

11. Heading back to your Start Screen, you will see your newly created live tile ready for you to use.

12. Back in OblyTile, click the “Folder” icon.

This will open the Manager for OblyTile which is where the information on all your created live tiles will be. You can click on any of the live tiles to edit or remove them.
OblyTile lets you quickly and easily create custom live tiles in Windows 8. What type of live tiles will you create with OblyTile in Windows 8?
